Distinctive Lighting Concepts began in 1994 as a small lighting business located in Elmwood Kitchens’ St. Catharines showroom. From this location we developed a solid client base and a reputation for offering unique lighting alternatives.

In 1996 we joined with several other home design specialists to create the Elmwood Design Centre. As Part of this collection of businesses we are able to offer customers the unique ability to shop for all of their residential and commercial design needs in one place. Our move to the Design Centre has not only enabled us to carry a much larger number of in-stock lighting fixtures but has also allowed us to expand our line of services and products to include landscape lighting, ‘monorail’ systems and home accessories.

In the future we plan to continue to offer our customers our unique selections and superior service as we strive to become one of Canada’s leading showrooms.

Our showroom is a unique blend of traditional north american lights and a selection of modern lighting and accessories. On display are our increasingly popular european lighting designs and modern home furnishings and accessories as well as traditional and landscape fixtures. DLC is a dynamic company with an experienced and enthusiastic staff to back it up. Jess Howlett, owner of the business, has been looking after customers lighting needs for a over 20 years. Jess is certified by the Illuminating Engineering Society and is a qualified electricians able to answer all of his customers technical questions. Jenny Howlett is the showroom manager, with flair and talent to know exactly which lights the client is looking for, she also trains the rest of the staff to offer the same attention to detail.

All staff members are constantly upgrading their skills and are always seeking new and innovative products to offer to our customers.
